Deplorable Apple Policy

My MacBook Air is over 10 years old. I use it at home for light work. It works perfectly. I entered the wrong password and locked the device. I followed the directions to reset the password. Nothing worked. Went to the istore for help, only to be informed that the do not support devices older than 10 years. I was informed I should buy a new one. I have a brand bew MacBook, I don’t want another device. I love my MacBook Air.
