Cracked screen

Apple i store Eastgate shopping centre. Apple watch does not charge. When booked in for repairs, the condition of unit states that the unit only has light scratches on display. Got a response from service department that the screen is totally cracked, a new unit will cost me R5000. This is unacceptable as there was nothing wrong with my watch except for it not charging
