******* can deactivate the perceived tracking system on the IPhone
Dear Apple Customer Relations Team,
My name is Mahlatse Innocent Malema, a 27-year-old female resident of Alexandra Township, Johannesburg, South Africa. I am an unemployed graduate and a long-standing Apple user. I write to formally raise concerns regarding the effectiveness and security of Apple’s Find My iPhone feature following a traumatic incident.
On 7 November 2025, I was ****** at gunpoint while walking to the gym and was forced to surrender my iPhone 13 (Starlight). Within approximately 39 minutes, I attempted to locate the device using Find My iPhone to assist law enforcement. The service, however, only displayed the previous day’s location (6 November 2025) and showed the device as offline. Supporting screenshots are attached.
I was later informed that it may be possible for ******* to disable Find My iPhone and location services using a physical button combination without account authentication. If accurate, this constitutes a serious security vulnerability that undermines the anti-theft assurances reasonably re**** upon by consumers.
I purchased this device with the expectation that Apple’s security features would provide meaningful protection against theft. This incident resulted in emotional distress and financial loss, particularly given my current circumstances.
I respectfully urge Apple to review and strengthen its software security, specifically to prevent tracking features from being disabled without verified biometric or account credentials. I request acknowledgment of this complaint and information on any remedial actions under consideration.
Yours faithfully, Mahlatse Innocent Malema Johannesburg, South Africa
