Apple product defects

I bought an iPad Pro a in 2019 and ever since I've never had any incidents with it and it has always been in a cover. I don't carry it around or anything it is always on my study table. So now, all of a sudden the iPad isn't charging, tried a different cable and still nothing. I booked an appointment with the tech services at Brooklyn a few days after noticing this problem and the guy tried by all means to assist me. It somehow charged out of nowhere and then it stopped, he tried by all means to charge it again but still it couldn't charge anymore. My thing is now, the only options I have are to replace the device by buying a new device or "book" it in for repairs and be charged roughly the same amount as buying a new device, the same device. this is a problem for me because if the tech guy could not find any defects what is the point of me booking it in? Ive read online and many people are experiencing the problem why doesn't apple recall the device and or do something about it as this is not our problem but a defect of the product itself? is this a money making scheme? If the guy at apple didn't help me I don't know where id be however apple as a company should really reconsider this whole thing we don't buy these things with money from trees or get them for free. WE PAY!!!!!
