Apple ID account hacked and credit card details provided used for purchases

I've used and Apple phone for many years without any problems, I am however very disappointed that my Apple ID was hacked and a purchase was made from overseas on my Apple ID account. Apple claims that their security is of the best in the world, thus credit card details are willingly provided just to find out that my personal details aren't safe at all.
