High electricity bills with no option for prepaid!

We started staying at an Angor managed complex in November 2019. Since that time, our electricity consumption has increased to more than three times what we used to pay. There are only 2 of us in the house. How do they justify us paying from about R700 to about R2300 per month for electricity? It's ridiculous. They cannot even show us the meter readings on the actual meter. Which meter did they use? Who knows. I have tried to get them to allow us to install a prepaid meter but they have made it impossible to move over to prepaid.

The charges are insane. This is lockdown period. We do not have money to be donating to Angor. They cannot help. All they want is money. Their practices are extremely questionable. They are ripping us off

We received your email of 3 August 2020 requesting your electricity readings from 1 November 2019 to 31 July 2020. These will be sent to you today.

ANGOR has also arranged that the Estate Manager send us a photo of your electricity meter to confirm that the meter readings provided to us are accurate.

The installation of pre-paid meters in a Body Corporate requires that a Special Resolution of owners be passed before all owners may install pre-paid meters.

I have been requesting to get a prepaid electricity meter since 23rd of June. So please do imply that this is just from today. Each time I make a follow up, I am directed to a dead end. I should be able to get a prepaid meter installed and be responsible for my electricity bill. Not for me and my husband who live just the 2 of us, to received electricity bills over R2000 each month. That does not make sense. I need the electricity meter installed as a matter of urgency before Angor sucks my pocket dry!
