Having a stranger invade your property is what they strive for

We would like to report a break-in that happened in our unit, (26 Elyon) the 3rd one now that we've had since we moved into the complex managed by Angor Property Specialists. We are not sure when it happened but we are suspecting either on Saturday early hours or even Sunday. We were away for the weekend and when we came back on Sunday morning we realised that the sliding door and security gate on the inside had been broken into. When we stepped into the house, we realised that the TV had been taken as well as 2 laptops from work and some clothing and jewellery, our cupboards in the bedroom were wide open. Such invasion of privacy.

What amazes us though is that we called the Security guard on duty and asked if he had seen anything or heard anything and he said no as during the early hours of the morning he usually patrols the complex but there is not much he can do if there is no one patrolling at the gate during the same time. My question is then why didn't we have another security guard seeing that this gate has been wide open for 2 weeks or means to lock it when the security guard is patrolling?

It so sad that I'm paying levies of over R4000 a month that I cant afford for nothing, no special project has been done since we've started paying and stopped. Recently the sewerage system was over flowing in the complex for about 2 weeks with no action from them. Every single week I ask the garden guys to chop the trees in front of my yard as it blocks the view to the property and they never do it, what stops me from thinking its them that broke in over the weekend as they were there on Friday when we left and they gain access to the complex with ease.

When reporting this to Angor they send a generic response saying they will be forwarding this report to the trustees and to be frank, that is not enough. I guess i should have been contact with that as i have received no response from Angor on my reported break in. They have made our experience with our kids at Elyon a living misery.

Thank you for contacting us.
We are saddened to hear of the break-in onto your unit and agree that it is an invasion of privacy. An insurance claim form has been sent to you so that you can submit a claim against the common property insurance policy for the damage to your security gate and sliding door.
With regards to your complaint against the lack of security guards at the complex, the Trustees have requested a quote from the security company for an additional guard over the festive season. The quote was only received on Monday and a decision has not been communicated to ANGOR or the security company as yet.
The garden service also take instruction from the Trustees, so please put your request in writing regarding the trimming of trees and bushes along your boundary. Your request will be forwarded to the Trustees who will determine if the request can be carried out by the garden service. They will communicate their decision to ANGOR and the garden service accordingly.
ANGOR and the other service providers, are contracted by the Trustees of your complex. ANGOR’s role is to manage the finances of the complex and to liaise between the members of the body corporate and the Trustees. We assure you that we forward all written complaints and queries to the Trustees, who communicate their decision on the matters to us. We can offer the Trustees advice on matters but we are not the decision makers.
Please send any queries and complaints to ANGOR with as much detail as possible, so that we can give the Trustees all the information they require to improve the complex for the owners and residents.
