Stuck with R1999 earrings.

I feel so upset today. This morning I received a valentines day gift from my husband. 1999 value of gold earrings. When I saw the price I was shocked as it's very expensive. That's not the problem, when I opened the box and saw the earrings I told him that I have such earrings and if I can change it for something else like a chain or bracelet. He said it's fine with him. I didn't even open the plastic where the earrings is in, because I was disappointed that it was earrings but didn't want to tell him and make him feel bad. I inboxed American Swiss on their Facebook page and explained the same I'm explaining here and they tell me I can't exchange earrings. How can this be true when I didn't even open the plastic bag that it is in. All I Wana do is exchange it for something I prefer. 1999 is no joke.
