Poor quality jewellery
When we buy or receive an item of jewellery , it's a forever gift,. It's a token of something priceless. It's a token of love, a promise, gratitude etc. We buy an item of jewellery to express our feelings for a loved one. We go to reputable stores to ensure we buy good quality jewellery that comes with guarantees etc. All this because we want value for our money. It's a given that we expect this metal item to last more than just a few weeks or months. My aged mum (71 years) bought me a ring for my 50th birthday. I was so happy . It's was stunning. It was advertised as 5 carat gold with sterling silver. (False advertising). After 2 weeks the "gold" changed colour. I didn't return it because it still looked very pretty. This was suppose to be my special gift from her that I would cherish long after she is gone. Two or three months later when one of the little rods fell off, I took the ring back to the store as it was still under guarantee. I mentioned the colour change and the missing rod and expected both parts to be replaced. After a few weeks they called to let me know the ring is back from repairs. I was told to come to the store with my mum and her card as she is the card holder. I told the lady that I live in Jhb and my mum lives in Cape Town. So I couldn't get the ring until my mum came for a visit to Jhb which was 2 years later. It was later confirmed that I could infact get the ring without my mum and her card being present. Please train your staff so that they can advise the customers correctly. I could have gotten the ring earlier and sent it back for repairs the second time within the guarantee period. After 20 months of the ring lying in the store, the guarantee period had long passed. When I eventually got the ring back, only the rod was replaced. I wore the ring for three weeks and the rod fell off again and one cz fell off. What kind of QA people do you have at American Swiss? How does a brand new solid stainless steel ring fall apart within weeks. How does the colour of 5 carat gold change? Now, the ring looks like ****. It looks like a cheap ring that you would by from a vendor on the side walk. If I take the ring back to the store, I will have to pay for the repairs. I will have to pay the price for the cheap quality **** that American Swiss sells to its unsuspecting customers. They are protected by their terms and conditions. What about the junk that we pay so many thousands of rands for? Who protects our purchase? After all the hassle, after all the phone calls and trips to the store, after paying for the ring in full, it's now just laying in the cupboard and not being used. American Swiss, the only good thing that you have is a photographer with good lighting ... Absolutely nothing else. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOU TO ANYBODY. Please don't add insult to injury by responding with an apology.
