false advertising

I walked past American Swiss in Canal Walk on Tuesday 15th and saw a guess watch that was on sale. The price was R2695 markdown to R1086 and as I was looking for a perfect watch for my husband I went inside and ask the assistant if I could have a look at it. I gave it to my husband to try on and he really loved it. I then decided to take the watch and the assistant went to ring it up. I paid with my cheque card and as I was about to sign for my purchase I discovered that they charged me R1806 instead of the price that it was advertised at which left me feeling very disgruntled. I pointed it out to the assistant that, that is not the price that it was advertised as. She called the manager and told her that the price scanned is not the same as the price advertised and that I the customer wants the watch at the advertised price which was only the right thing. The manager then said unfortunately she cannot do it at store level and that I should contact customer care which I was not happy about, I felt it could have been resolved instore as she was the manager of the store , but she refused. What happened to customer service and customer ethics. The price you see is the price you pay
