Exploiting rates

I took my Michael Kors watch to American Swiss in Woodlands Mall for repairs. Several weeks later I was given a quote of R 3 800 for fixing the "crown". I understand that it needs to be fixed with Michael Kors parts, but that is complete and utter exploitation, as I only Paid R 4900 for the watch and it is not even two years old. I got another quote for R 280 from a different jeleller. How can this be explained.
