Shocking rip-off

<p>Some years ago, I bought American Express sterling travellers cheques in South Africa, where I live, with South African Rands on which a commission was charged. At the same Amex agency, today I asked to cash some cheques to receive sterling (the denomation of the cheques) for a forthcoming visit to the UK. Sure, they said but they would convert the cheques to rand and then back to sterling at significant cost to me!! So they are claiming commission THREE times notwithstanding that they have had the use of my cash in the interim.</p>
