Bad service deliberate or not?

On Tuesday 19 July 2016, my wife and son went to the Centurion Mall branch of American Express Foreign Exchange to close their AmEx Travel Card, after their overseas holiday. Their cards were opened on 18 May 2016, when both had to be what we call FICA'ed. No problems with that.

However, on 19 July when they wanted to close the cards (account) and exchange their Euros which they had in cash, the lady Amanda Masia insisted that they AGAIN had to show a proof of residence! This is in my opinion utter nonsense as a person's FICA status remains active for at least one year, if not longer.

She could also not even look on the system how much Euros were still on my wife's card, as the system gave problems (again). Fortunately my wife knew the amount.

According to my wife and son, while they were waiting, this lady also refused to help a Zimbabwean citizen with exchanging money, as she "gave herself the right" to question the stamp in his passport (stamped at Beitbridge). Who on earth is she to question the stamp and on what grounds?

And then the ultimate, she also said to another person (whos mother arrived in the country and taken from the plane to a waiting ambulance), that her mother must come in person to exchange her money!!!!!!

It seems to me this Amanda Masia was either deliberate in her actions that day or she just had a bad day. Only she will know. Very bad experience and we will in future rather support Bidvest or some other foreign exchange entity.
