worst first experience ever

The first time I was flying overseas from south africa to america with american airlines and it was a total disaster. Will never fly with them again in my life.

Starting my trip from johannesburg to chicago, london and then fargo....when I got to chicago I found out that my flight was cancelled from london heathrow to fargo while I was in transit. I was resceduled on a flight that I had ro go out of Heathrow with a taxi I had to pay for to another airport in London. With a huge struggle and lots of rude representatives fron AA They manage to get me a flight out of London. After my visit in America I was on my way back on AA from Fargo ND, we were delayed for a hour at Fargo airport just to hear that 10 people needed to get off the flight and if they dont comply people would be picked randomly. When we got there I had to run because I had a half an hour to get to my next connecting flight only to get there to find the flight delayed.

We had to board at 18.40. Then the flight was delayed to 9.30 witout any explanation. The flight was then delayed another 4 times only to find out at 03.00 the next morning that the flight was cancelled and we had to phone at our own cost to book ourselves a new flight for that day.

I then phoned comsumer services and they booked me on a flight for 10.00 the next morning. I got affered to go to a hotel at 4.00 that morning and had to be in at 6. I booked myself in only to find out that my flight was actually booked for 22.45 that evening. So I asked then very nicely just to get me an earlier flight as I had to get to South Africa because I had to get to work.

Eventually I phoned the help desk again the they got me a flight at 8.50 that morning, after the 10 hour delay.

With that delay I could only get a flight for the next evening to fly from London to South Africa as there were only one flight going to sa in the evenings. I had to sit on London Heathrow airport for 22 hours. With no food vouchers or anything.

At that time I had to rebook my flight ticket to george from johannesburg at my own cost because I missed it. I lost one day of work and I was just fedup.

I had a flight from london to jhb with british airways which was amazing.

To top it all off when I got to Johannesburg my luggage was never loaded in chicago and is still there being transferred to me.

Am I really so wrong to ask for at least some sort of compensation for all this. Nobody came back to me with no feedback.
