Dangerous and dishonest

On a recent transatlantic flight with American Airlines, their food/drinks trolley had a sharp bolt sticking out the front, endangering every customer in an aisle seat. It could easily have ripped open a child's arm. As it happens, it caught and ripped open my only warm jacket, which I've had for years.

The stewardess responsible, and the flight's purser, assured me (without me requesting it, or even kicking up a fuss) that AA would gladly buy me a new jacket. All I had to do was talk to their customer service desk at Dallas airport.

Needless to say, the customer service people in Dallas were either unable or unwilling to assist. They referred me to the AA website.

On returning from our trip, I contacted AA through their website, dealing with one Athens Muldoon. Athens told me that they would not help me unless I could produce a receipt for the jacket.

Who keeps every receipt for every item they ever bought, for years afterwards? So now they have damaged my property, cost me money, forced me to endure the embarrassment of walking around the US with a torn jacket, and to top it all off, they have openly **** to me.

Obviously, I won't be flying American Airlines ever again. I strongly urge everyone else to avoid them like the plague.
