AA Leaves A Bad Taste In Your Mouth Even Worse Then Their Airplane Food

I am a frequent flyer on long haul flights to America, and have never had an experience as bad as this. I was meant to fly with American Airlines from SFO with a connecting flight at JFK and then to Heathrow. My original flight was delayed meaning I was going to miss my connection. Originally I thought they were great giving me the option to change to a direct flight with BA, or to get the delayed flight and they would pay for accomadation and fly me out the next day.

Due to work and family commitments, I chose the direct flight. I wasn't offered a meal voucher, despite it now being a four hour wait on top of my time in the air port. I did manage to get one after having to walk through to their check in desks and queue and effectivly justify why they should give me one. I then went to recheck in with BA, on doing so I was told that actually it was an over booked flight and so were the remainder flights for that day. They said that I could wait but they could not guarentee me a seat. I was outraged and went to find an AA representative to no avail, so I made a twitter account and tweeted them. Instead of any help they simply reccomended me to call an 08 number in another country. Despite the cost, I decided to do this to try and get some help. After explaining my situation I was told that AA couldn't confirm me on any flights because it wasn't with them. I then queued again, managed to talk to check in staff who also told me the same thing offering no sympathy. I followed up with a facbook message to their customer services page ( 5 days later still no reply).

I had no choice but to go through security again, and wait for the flight. Unsuprisingly I didn't get on because there were no seats, and all I could do was wait till 7pm still with no guarentee. I had currently been here for 7 hours. I walked back down to the AA check in desks, and queued again. The lady I dealt with said she would see what she could do, and she agreed to fly me out the next day as I was so sick of waiting around. Her manager came out to authorise it, and made every attempt to stop this happening, instead offering me a flight at midnight bearing in mind i'd been there since 9am. I politely declined and said I would rather fly tomorrow and if it was the accomadation I would find my own, but would they give me a seat upgrade because of all that had happened, they said no. They did however say they would put me in a seat with extra leg room.

I went to collect my suitcase to travel back and find accomodation, only to find out that my suit case had borded the flight to New York, so just as well I hadn't got the direct flight. I then had to queue once more and try and organise for my suit case to return to England with me the next day. I was also told that I would have to check with some one in New York to ensure it happens, despite my layover being less than an hour.

So the next day I caught my flight, and low and behold the seats didn't have extra leg room. I will never be flying with American Airlines again, and will be letting other people know about my negative experiences.
