AMAZON KINDLE AND AMAZON AUDIBLE
Hello Peter, This review does not please me at all, but needs to be mentioned. It is in regards to Kindle as well as Amazon Audible. I used to have subscriptions for these two products and had no issues whatsoever. In fact the service was splendid. Then in 2019 (after I went on pension), I had to cancel a lot of my subscriptions, among others the two mentioned in this review. All went perfectly well until October 2022. Suddenly I was charged with the two subscriptions again. No explanation given to me as to why this was being done. As mentioned I am a pensioner and I live in South Africa. I do not have a landline only mobile, and to phone Amazon and sit for 2 hours trying to get them to understand my problem is definitely not an option. I managed to get hold of someone there in February 2023 and the lady eventually could see what my problem was and she confirmed the cancellation in 2019 and promised my refunds and to stop deductions. Unfortunately neither of these things happened. I contacted Amazon again in April 2023 and manage to get hold of an agent via their live chat and I explained my problem. We communicated for more than two hours and he just could not see the problem, let alone solve it. He even argued with me telling me that I do not have subscriptions with them. I am fully aware of that, the question is, why are they deducting funds as if I do have subscriptions? He said there was two reversals done by my bank. This is not possible. Our banks here only do reversals on debit orders and not on subscriptions deducted by the Vendor from credit cards. I also checked my bank account and all I could find was the deductions going through and not any credits. Banks also cannot do reversals of any sort be it debit orders or any other type, unless they are given such an instruction (and I know that for a fact as I discussed it with them on more than one occassion) because how will they know which debits to reverse? This is not possible. I have been trying to get my funds back from Amazon for 2x deductions in October 2022, November 2022, December 2022, January 2023, February 2023, March 2023 and April 2023, but no joy. I eventually went to my bank towards the middle of April 2023 and had to close my banking account completely to stop Amazon from deducting any further funds from my account. They were making the deductions without my permission. I sent emails to the last agent I spoke to at Amazon and shared my bank account statements with him, but I haven't even received a reply. If there is anyone reading this that has any other recourse for my to obtain my funds back from Amazon, it would really appreciate the advice. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and for publishing it. Kind regards Yolinda Fourie Pensioner from South Africa.
