False advertising and bad service.

I contacted "Amazing Transport" to help us move as we had moved a couple of times in the past two years so we wanted a service to help us this time. i contacted them for a quote on packing and unpacking and i was sent a quote and i was insured that this included the unpacking of our items. it was a more expensive quote then i had received elsewhere but we decided to accept it because of the full package service so it would make our move easier. now on the moving day they did not unpack anything so i called them to fix this but Alec could not assist because he was driving and their movers now had just left. now i have paid them over R5000-00 to assist us with this move and it took me 2 weeks after the move to receive a reply from Alec as to what they would do regarding this where i was informed that they cant place a monetary value on this service so they can not refund me. just disgusting. this is ****. its the same as paying for a 55inch tv receiving a 40inch from the supplier and them saying they cant do anything.

Hi Ryan,

We have investigated the matters raised in your post, and respond as follows-

- We do not have any personal knowledge of the circumstances leading up to your acceptance of quote, and we quoted what we believed to be a competitive rate for your move requirements

- You required the inclusion of the supply, packing and unpacking of 20 boxes, which was included in the quoted removal price

- The volume of the 20 boxes comprised some 10% of the overall load volume

- Unpacking was included in the removal price paid, and ought to have been completed before our crew left your premises

- When you called Alec in the late afternoon of the move day, the crew had already left, and he said he would look into it. We have taken appropriate steps against the crew in question

- Your written comments in our Client Feedback form, stated that our service was very helpful and professional

- Alec’s response to you, albeit delayed, was initially to explain the costings involved in the packing service, and that there was little real value in the unpacking portion of 20 boxes. You were not satisfied with this, and we tendered a refund calculated per box in the aggregate sum of R255.00

- You rejected this out of hand, and made mention of R1 000.00 in your response

We believe that we have performed our services in a professional manner, and take responsibility for the omission in the unpacking of the 20 boxes, and have tendered the refund of the monetary value attached to this. We are happy to keep the communication open with you in an endeavour to reach amicable resolution

Hi Again, I sent an email asking if unpacking was included in the quote price to Alec prior to accepting this quote so obviously you do have knowledge that i needed this included prior to me accepting it. Yes i did state that on the for because the movers themselves where very helpful and as i was not home watching over them during the final section when they were supposed to be unpacking i assumed it was done when i got the call for them to return and open so they could leave. after i signed everything and wrote the comment my fiance came out after inspecting the house to tell me that they had not unpacked the boxes. I questioned them to which they showed me their instruction from the company which had not stated it and said they had to leave. i then called Alec no longer then 5 to 10min after they left. yes you offered me R255.00 to which you would have charged me R450.00 if i had requested the equivalent amount unpacked? how is this fair after you have now wasted my time, energy and highly inconvenienced me. an that amount was offered to unpack extra boxes of mine as an extra which would normally be a lower price as i was already using you for everything else now u offer me even lower. You offered me a product i agreed to the quote and purchased the product and you have not provided the complete product and you are not being fair or ethical about it. and 10%? uhm.. there were around 26 other items including the extra 10 prepacked boxes so 26+20=46 so the 20 boxes are 44% of the load. you have wasted enough of my time. this is false Marketing and it is not ethical i will be contacting a lawyer today and you will be hearing from me shortly. And also you have wasted my time it took my fiance and I 4 hours to unpack these boxes that i paid you to do. So i have had extra work on my plate due to your incompetence and you offer me 50% less then you would have charged me to do the job to make up for this. between my fiance an I we get paid around R310-00 per hour and now we had to do work for you for 4 hours. i can place a monetary value on my time you have wasted. Labour for my Fiance and I R1240-00 and then the charge per box u would have charged me R27.5 x 20 = 550 so that would total R1790.00 minimum that i would find the monetary value you owe me for time wasted so far and what you have not delivered on. That's the current Value. Now my time is being further wasted by you. Reagrds Ryan Grace

Hi Ryan

We have again considered your recent posts, and while we respect your rights to publish your opinions as a consumer, we would like to respond as follows:

- At the time of your enquiry regarding unpacking, you were notified of a per box unpacking rate applicable to the unpacking of boxes you had packed yourself. You were aware that the removal price quoted only included the unpacking of the 20 boxes we were packing

- Load volume is a different concept to quantity of items – volume being the cubic foot volume, as opposed to the number of items

- We acknowledge the unfortunate error on our part in omitting to include the unpacking on our job card, and the inconvenience this caused in you having to unpack the 20 boxes yourself, and again apologise for this. It was a bona fide error on our side. We have tendered to refund you in an amount commensurate with what you had paid for this service
