BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE

I contacted this brick supplier in Vereeniging, via an ad on "Ananzi" that he supplies broken brick cobbles. He quoted me a price of R2 000 per load. I placed an order for 3 x loads of paving bricks to be delivered to Melville, Johannesburg. I was contacted a day later to say that the Transporter now wants R2 000/load delivery fee and that my costing of R6 000 for three loads would not double. I protested this request, as I was not told at the outset that his price of R2 000/load did not include delivery or v.a.t. We then verbally agreed on a total delivery charge of R1 500 and that we would split that cost 50/50. As I needed the bricks urgently, and his banking account was different to mine, he suggested I pay the money into another Standard Bank account, details of which he provided me via sms. I paid R6750 into the bank account of MHE Gerber on behalf of Amazing Bricks. The supplier contacted me the following day to say that his truck had a broken down clutch and that he was sending a back up truck to Walkerville to swop the load and deliver my bricks. I was left yet again with a further day's production delay because of this. The bricks were delivered late that evening and offloaded on the pavement in front of my client's property. The further two loads were to follow the next day. As this did not happen, I tried to contact one Sydney Apeling to no avail. He eventually sent me an sms the next day (now 2 days after the first delivery) to ask how many more bricks do I need because the transporter claims he offloaded 120m2 on his first load. I measured out exactly what had been laid of his bricks, including separating what had been laid of my client's old bricks, and the new bricks laid, together with what was still remaining on the pavement came to 60m2 (this was apart from approx 30m2 of my clients paving bricks) - not 120m2. I sent him pictures with my measurements as proof thereof. He did not answer his phone over the weekend, and I was desperate to finish my job but I had no more bricks. I eventually reached him using another cellphone, and he told me he was shopping in a shopping Mall and that I was not to disturb him until Monday. Monday came and went, and he did not answer my calls. I consequently, called my workers off from work on Monday, awaiting new bricks. I then purchased additional cobbles from an old and regular supplier in Pretoria whose price is R3 000 a load, including delivery and some more from a local supplier to make up sufficient bricks to complete my 180m2 paving job. This now put me out by an additional R5 000, and I was out of pocket for approximately R4 000 which Sydney was refusing to refund. I have tried contacting this man on several occasions by phone, using other phones, and via Messenger but he is ignoring my requests for a refund of the R4 000 that he had been paid. This is the most disgusting service I have ever received from anyone, and this man, in my opinion should remove his "Holier than thou" message on his Facebook page about being a good Christian, because he does not even know how to spell the word Christian. He is ***** through and through, and should not be used by anyone living in the Vereeniging or Unitas Park area.
