Amasiko group doesn't care about it's apprentice program.
Good day,
I trust that you are well. I am writing this as a concerned electrical apprenticeship student with Amasiko Group, registered and operating under Construction SETA. As a current student with the institution, may I please remain anonymous to protect myself from being victimised.
1. At the start of the apprenticeship, they promised to get us placements with companies for our practical work but they have failed to do that, we were told to look for host employers by ourselves and they held the stipend until we got placement.
2. Myself and a couple of other students were able to find host employers, but our employer has never visited the sites that we have found placement at, they have never visited the training center we were in either.
3. We were placed in a training center that is almost like an abandoned building, no material for us to work with and there was a power cut for months yet we are Electrician apprentice.
3. For the past 3 months, we have been getting the stipend after 15 working days from the date of submission of registers. We sometimes don't have money to get to the place of work because Amasiko Group is always late with payments.
4. We have been provided with toolboxes that are for Electronics not Electrician toolboxes. When we raised that, we were advised to buy proper toolboxes, again how when we are either not getting paid or paid late?
5. At the beginning of the Apprenticeship programme, we were taken for medicals but they were not accepted by the host employers which meant we had to pay for proper medicals from our stipends.
I am really just trying to figure out how we are expected to do right when the ones that promised to help are failing us. Please assist.
