“************ of Residents and Children, and ******** Deposit Withholding”
I had a very poor experience renting at Bordeaux Estate. The estate caretaker, Ria, routinely acted as though she were the owner of the estate, issuing instructions and making threats to residents without lawful authority. Residents were threatened with water restrictions, including statements that water may be cut or limited between 18:00 and 20:00, allegedly due to high usage. Threatening essential services is unacceptable and creates an atmosphere of ************. More concerning is the treatment of children. In one incident, children were riding bicycles under their mother’s supervision, including her two daughters. The caretaker confronted them, stated that children were not allowed to ride bicycles, and alleged that they may vandalise other residents’ property. This is harsh, accusatory language directed at minors, without justification. In addition, my own children were later accused of causing damage, yet: No such damages were recorded against me during the exit inspection, and The inspection report confirms no damages. Instead of addressing this lawfully, the alleged damages were placed on the owner’s levy account, apparently to create a justification for withholding or reducing my rental deposit. This practice is ********. A rental deposit may only be reduced for proven, itemised damages attributed to the tenant and recorded at inspection. It cannot be indirectly withheld through third-party accounting or post-hoc allegations. When parents attempted to engage calmly with the caretaker, they were ignored, leaving issues unresolved and distressing.
