My Heart is Broken

My sister was very happy at the McClelland Centre for the Intellectually Impaired in East London and the process to get her disability grant was a lengthy and difficult one.<br> <br> When I transferred to Cape Town we needed to move her as well and Alta Du Toit Nasorg seemed to be the best option.<br> <br> From the start it was difficult to get her in and the negative attitude towards her being accepted into the hostel was evident from the start. We never had such an issue at McClelland.<br> <br> When I told the centre that I will be taking Rozanne out of the day centre they did not appear phased and stuck to their excuses. I have heard of other children getting into the hostel immediately but we were always confronted by the same old excuses.<br> <br> I have never been so disappointed in my life...having a intellectually impaired sibling isn't easy, things are made more difficult when so-called 'professional' institutions don't seem to care.<br> <br> Anthony Brown
