WARNING: Unfair pricing and unauthorized deposit deductions by ALT Projects Jr Construction
I accepted a fixed quotation from ALT Projects Jr and paid a 60% deposit. Before quoting, they were provided with all necessary estate specification sheets. Despite having these exact requirements, they did a site visit post-deposit and abruptly hiked the price by R3,900, claiming the material "grade" required was different.When I rightfully rejected this price increase, they refused to return my deposit in full. They *******ly withheld R865 from my refund for a "call-out fee" and "bank charges"—neither of which were ever discussed, agreed upon, or included in the original contract.When challenged, their Head of Operations admitted in writing that they took a massive 60% deposit based only on "preliminary information" before verifying actual costs, completely ignoring the spec sheets they were already sent. Do not trust this company with a deposit. They lock you into a contract and then change the price, penalising you financially when you refuse to pay their extra costs. A formal complaint is being lodged with the National Consumer Commission (NCC).
