Suspicious business conduct

Took my VW Amarok in for a service and everything working 100 percent fine, after leaving the dealership the master window switch all of a sudden is not working anymore and previously no signs of any defect. When I took it back for checking the guy looked inside, pressed the locking button on the remote a few times and told me the switch was gone due to the mileage of the vehicle being high(175000). Afterwards I get a call saying that they can install a new switch at 3k but to help me they will reduce to 2.3k. Later I checked with another VW dealer and find of the switch is R1050 including vat. I find this to be very suspicious and if I'm right extremely *********.
