Exceptionally poor service at VW Alpine
Yesterday I had my car booked in for a replacement of a rear shock absorber that is still under warranty. The fault was picked up during a routine service a few months back and I was told I could bring it back to be repaired. When I asked why it was not repaired during the service I was told paperwork and photographs needed to be done. I was not warned of any other terms and conditions only that I needed to book in again and it would be replaced. This I did on Monday 23rd November for the replacement on Wednesday the 25th. It was written on the job card that the shock needed replacement. I was called at midday yesterday after bringing the car in in the morning that I could collect it as they had done the paperwork etc and were now ordering the shock absorber. Incredibly a VW dedicated workshop does not possess a shock absorber to replace mine with, nor could they obtain one within a day - they need at least 48 hours to order it (which essentially I had given them by making the booking for the car on the Monday) and now I would be required to return a THIRD time to get this done. I could do it in an hour at any shocks dedicated workshop around town, but if I want VW do it on their OWN vehicle then apparently it takes 3 visits to diagnose, photograph, and repair the fault. Absolutely unbelievable. I was exceptionally angry at the waste of my time and apparent oblivious unawareness of the workshop to any kind of planning. The service personnel were very apologetic but that didn't solve the issue. Exceptionally poor service, zero planning and incredibly poor management of workflow in the service department. Avoid these guys if you can.
