Can't believe you call that service.

What started off as a great Sunday in the Franschhoek valley, ended off with a very disappointing experience at Allora.

After a great wine tasting just down the road from Allora, my boyfriend and I decided to go have a nice lunch at a cozy restaurant.

Arriving at the door just after 3 pm, we were "greeted" by a gentleman who clearly forgot he is working Front of House. Smile much?? Friendly much??

Once we were seated, we were left with our menu's and no idea of who will be serving us. We had our own wine with us, so we weren't sure why we were left alone so long, seeing that we only need our wine to be opened. After several attempts of "excuse me, excuse me", we finally got the attention of one of the waiters chatting to his colleague. Apparently, it was a shift change and no one knew who was serving our table. My question: Where is Front of House during this time??? NO ONE came to communicate to us they haven't assigned a waiter to our table yet. Frankly, I don't care about shift change, there should be service, regardless.

We finally got our wine opened for us and once again waited a copious amount of time just for someone to bring bread to the table. After we once again had to ask where the bread for the table is. Apparently, it was finished. Really??

This is when my boyfriend and I had enough. How can service be this bad, when it is that quiet in there?!

We got up and explained to the new shift manager on duty what happened. All we got was a very sad attempt of "we are sorry about that". Nothing further, no attempt of trying to solve the problem or even an attempt to stop us from leaving.

I would not recommend Allora to anyone.
