Be warned when buying travel insurance

Be warned when you're thinking of buying travel insurance - This company doesn't care about their after sales service. I took out travel insurance for a return trip a month before my trip started but I changed my return date of my trip and informed Allianz 1 day before the start date of my trip. I then received feedback the next day after my trip started informing me that the policy first needs to be cancelled and then I should sign up for a new policy online but that it could only be done before my trip starts. Because I received their feedback after I started with my trip, Allianz didn't want to assist me at all. I am so disappointed that there is no way a global company like this can't just change a date and bill the client for the additional week if applicable. Circumstances can change which could necessitate you to change your return, even while on the trip and this company makes no provision for this. So you'll not be covered for any loss with a return flight - we all know that unforeseen risks can occur while on a trip like flights being delayed/cancelled and baggage/personal belongings getting lost. We won't ever use this company again and have shared my opinion with all friends, colleagues and family.
