deposited R16 850

in august 2009 was at auction in Pretoria for a house. I was informed to deposit the above mentioned amount to bid for a house. after few weeks was told the money has been forfeited. I tried to contact them telephonically and they told me that I wont get my money back and might as well forget about it even existed.
