Be aware of FORD & Allen Joss Ford dealer , Wonderboom, Pretoria.Despicable service & treatment of a FORD loyal customer. Absolutely unacceptable.

Complaint: Ford Ranger Warranty, 4 years/120 000km, bought @ Allen Joss Auto FORD,

Annlin Pretoria, 0182, (012) ********** in 2014, cash purchase - claims that the Ranger is not under the warranty on date of 20 Aug 2018 ( Turbo failure) and refuse to extend warranty and do the necessary repairs as indicated under new vehicle warranty.

On the warranty registration card as per our Customer Assistance Service and Warranty Guide, 4 years / 120 000km, booklet on p3, our Ford Ranger, 2.2, XLS, double cab, 4x4 is registered and dated, 20 AUG 2014.

There is no extended plan information given on the extended warranty contract number, service plan contract number, maintenance plan contract number or expiry dates.

Date of this registration card is the 20th of AUG 2014.

Date of pre-delivery inspection was 18 Aug 2014. Technician: Anton Job Card Number: A 8129 Service Manager’s Name: Walter Binello

As indicated in the Customer Assistance Service and Warranty Guide booklet, on page 6, “New Vehicle Warranty Commencement Date” is explained as follows, ‘shall mean the date on which the vehicle is first registered by Ford or a Ford Authorised Dealer.’

This, according to us as the owners, is the date on the registration card, indicated as 20 AUG 2018, in our possession.

We have the documents indicating that we took the Ranger to Allen Joss Auto FORD on the 20 AUG 2018.

This is completely unacceptable that Allen Joss Auto FORD or FORD Customer / South Africa refuse to replace the turbo that went just over 90 000km at 4 years (very conveniently we might add) and be difficult about the warranty date, claiming that the warranty expired on the 14th of Aug and then claiming again, a day after (21 Aug) as it expired the Sunday, 19th AUG @ 00:00 (midnight), missing the warranty merely with a couple of hours.

Allen Joss managers acted completely *********** and unwilling to help, treated us like we wanted to misuse the opportunity to exploit them, when it is us who is being exploited, after this vehicle was bought in cash, all services met and loyally done @ ALLEN JOSS FORD and looked after as a priced possession. We phoned Ford Customer care line, to inform them of this situation and needed their help in sorting this out, thinking they will back us, only to be declined by them as well for the same reason, according to their system, the warranty expired the 14 AUG 2018 and not willing to assist us any further.

During this time, whilst the Ranger was checked in, problem determined and declined under the current ‘New Vehicle Warranty’, by the service manager, we tried to extend our service plan and warranty. Excellent service with the willing lady in the service department, that CAN extend our Ford Service Plan, after being told by the last service on, 8 AUG 2018 (2weeks earlier) by another personal lady, this can not be done, when we enquired about the extension on that day. The friendly service lady informed us she unfortunately can not extend our Warranty and was passed on by the service manager to several department ending at the second hand vehicle department.

We informed the willing personnel lady at this department we would like to extend our Vehicle warranty, only to be told they can not extend our Ford Protect vehicle warranty (Ranger was at that time at the dealer, available for inspection, with full service record, which was last serviced on the 8 AUG 2018) and that we could only extend it with a external insurance company. After several hours of discussing our options and deciding on a product, explaining our disappointment that we apparently missed the renewal date, choosing the preferred 2nd choice option of warranty extension, we where passed on again to another personal lady (who was in such a hurry an pressed for time as the department was about to close for the day) we were informed by the second hand vehicle manager, that this option is not available to us as this department thought we where buying a 2nd hand vehicle and not trying to extend a warranty on current FORD RANGER, bought @ ALLEN JOSS FORD, in 2014. We nearly made the eft for this extended warranty before we were told on the new development. The extension of warranty was mentioned to the sales personal numerous times, whilst during discussion with them hours before. We where treated very badly and impatiently by the second hand car manager, who came to inform us if this info, very ****y and arrogantly.

* How is this possible, that a vehicle, very well looked after, with a full service record, blow a turbo at 92’170 km still under the 4 year warranty. * If the vehicle where ‘apparently’ registered on the 14th AUG 2014, on their system, why where we not informed of this in writing and on the documentation in our possession. We where then under false pretense, given the wrong information on the documentation of registration of warranty, and the information in it. * How is it that no clear answer or explanation be given to us about the warranty expiry date, extension and replacement of the part. * We have it on good reference from contacts of personal friends, that Ford has replaced turbo’s and parts in the past, well out of it’s warranty date, why be difficult on our Warranty date, that still stood on the 20 AUG 2018, when we took the vehicle to Allen Joss Ford.

22 Aug 2018, we went to remove our FORD Ranger from Allen Joss Ford, with roll back truck, for a second time ( first to take it to Allen Joss) in order to get a second opinion from another Ford Dealership. Danie, the service manager at Allen Joss, suddenly informed us that we can extend our Ford warranty with them and some discount was offered on the quotes R 18’639.10 replacement and labour cost. They refuse to replace the turbo or properly assist is with out warranty but very quick to quote and make some ekstra money out us.

How does this work? They completely inconsistent and *************!

If this is the after care service that Ford provides to their loyal customers, we would discourage any future buyers and current owners to rethink their options and check your warranty dates!!

Very disappointed and angry Ford Ranger 2.2 XLS, double cab, 4x4 owner.
