Unhappy customer

My BMW GS 800 motorcycle experienced some technical issues. The battery was drained, the bike wouldn't swing. She was standing for a few days so I put the battery on charge. She started easily after the charge, but a few days later she was flat again. Keeping in mind that the bike was used daily to work and back.

Allan Lewis motorcycles told me that the battery was the problem and that I need to replace it at R1350, which I did as they're supposed to be the experts. 5 days later, battery flat again.

I took it back to Allan Lewis Motorcycles to which they insisted that I need a trickle charger for my bike at R1500. I didn't agree with them as my previous battery worked perfectly fine with a trickle charger.

After giving them the battery back and getting a battery from a different supplier, the battery again went flat. Allan Lewis motorcycles then diagnosed the problem and said the stator needs to be replaced at a cost of R15k! They didn't give me options, They didn't tell me the part could be rewired by a auto-elec.

I asked for a quotation for the removal of the part and to install the part again as I found a auto-elec to rewire the part. The quotation I received had a increase in labour hours as apposed to the labour hours to replace the part and the gasket was all of a sudden more expensive. The quote to remove and install the part was more than double that to rewire the part.

BMW dealership explained that the reason why the stator costs R13k is because there's a lot more components that comes with stator. It's not just the stator.

Why then was the labor hours fewer to replace the stator that to rewire the stator? Were they going to rewire it and charge me for the replacement because I don't know better?

Not a happy customer, wouldn't recommend them. I felt that I was being **********.
