There was an engine error light in my 15 year old Alfa Spider. My mechanic who has looked after the car for the last 10 years referred me to Alfia Auto because he did not have a special computer to get into the car electronics to detect the source of the error. This place in Wynberg close to Alex township is a dump, strewn with unrepaired old cars. This should have been the giveaway but I persisted. The mechanic Giovanni was difficult and aggressive from the outset. But he gave me an appointment and I left my car with him on 26 February 2026. After a week he quoted me R25k to repair the car. He said it would be ready in a week. I paid him a 50% deposit. He sent me messages on the weekend that he was working on it. Which I now believe was a lie. When I asked him on the Monday after the week was over when I could pick up the car he said it was being assembled. That evening when I sent him a message saying this was clearly not the correct timeline, he called me and in an aggressive and threatening manner shouted at me and told me he would leave my vehicle on the pavement. Then refused to communicate with me any further, blocked my phone number and Whatsapp so my husband had to call him. Thankfully he continued to speak to my husband. After another 2 weeks there was always another excuse and another part to be fixed. I was concerned that I would never get my car back. I had to pay him the rest of the money to get the vehicle yesterday 26 March, one month after he got the car. Then I had to arrange for the vehicle to be towed on a flatbed to another mechanic as its now even worse than when it arrived at Alfia Auto. The mechanic Giovanni and his business partner Clayton are complete ****mers, they have ego's that are massive and refuse to communicate with the paying client because she is a woman and then charge exorbitant amounts and work on a car with zero competence as the car is worse than when it arrived at them. Do not under any circumstance believe them that they are a legitimate mechanic business. They are not
