Thanks for Nothing Alexander Forbes.

My Masscash provident money was with Sanlam, but when I wanted to withdraw it they told me that I had been transferred to Alexander Forbes and that because the transfer was in progress I could not withdraw it for a couple of months. I made it clear on several occasions that I had retired and am now living in Botswana. Alexander Forbes used the documents that I had submitted to Sanlam and could obviously see that at 62 I was eligible for retirement. Apparently I had ticked the wrong box which was "withdrawal claim" which is what I was doing. Being 62 I would have thought that they would advise me instead of requesting a tax directive purely on a document which was not even an Alexander Forbes document but a Sanlam document. I got not assistance in trying to rectify this and was told that I had to go the SARS. SARS tells me that while it would take some effort on Alexander Forbes's part, that they are the ones who could rectify it. I advise people to not have too much faith in Alexander Forbes.
