Preservation of Funds

I was dismissed from my employer on 30th July 2026. I then submitted all required documents for my provident fund to be paid out. I then received a letter that says my funds are preserved and will only be paid when I reach 55 and I asked the consultant who assisted me if this decision is being taken on my behalf because I Don't want that option and she told me it is compulsory. Why must I wait 20 years to get the little bit of funds I saved which could assist my immediate needs? If I was given options to choose and i chose that Preservation option I wouldn't have a problem but they decided on my behalf without any communication. I have a claim number that was sent by both my previous employer and AF on email which explained that in 6-8 weeks my funds will be paid out then all of a sudden it's preserved. Who decided on canceling my claim?
