Alexander Forbes vs Sasol Funeral Benefit Fund
The Sasol Pension Fund as administered by Alexander Forbes in my opinion leaves a lot to be desired, especially when related to the passing away of the main pensioner or spouse. As stipulated in the Sasol Pension Fund news letter, Fundbite, issue 8, January - June 2022 the main pensioner or spouse are entitled to a funeral benefit of 27 500 and 11 000 respectively. Naturally, if the pensioner had contributed monthly to the Sasol Funeral Benefit Fund. I became aware of the mentioned newsletter as it was e-mailed me. To date the funeral benefit fund has not been paid. In September-2022 my father-in-law, Mr. JH Esterhuyzen passed away and paid for his own funeral. The required documents, death notice, AVBOB invoice and payment as well as a certified bank statement was sent to Alex Forbes. The response was to submit a affidavit of the claimant, certified ID copy of the claimant, certified bank statement and a letter of executorship. The claimant is deceased. A letter of executorship will take a minimum of 4 weeks and thus it was decided to do the funeral as soon as possible and then take Alexander Forbes to task. To confirm me the mess at Alexander Forbes. In January-2021 my mother-in-law passed away and Alexander Forbes were informed. At no time did they find it necessary to inform my father-in-law that he was entitled to the spouse funeral benefit of 11 000. Which brings to mind. How many elderly pensioners, spouses and family are aware of the Sasol Funeral Benefit Fund. Naturally if they had contributed. The contribution will be reflected on the payslip. What happens to the monies when there was a contribution and the funeral benefit fund did not pay? Case Number:DEATH ***59 00
