Alexander Forbes has no idea where the post-retirement capital originated from?
I have been requesting Pre- retirement documentation relating to dependent/beneficiary/next of kin for Proof of Paternity for Portugal. My Father was receiving a small monthly pension from the Gauteng Builders Industries Pension fund administered by Alexander Forbes until his passing in August 2016. They have advised that they do not have any records for my Father although I supp**** them with all the Post retirement Investment information - they don't have any documentation or know where the capital originated from? I was advised to go to my Father's previous employee who's company closed in the early 80s and who has since passed away. If Alexander Forbes was paying out a monthly annuity to my Father then surely they must have documentation pertaining to where the funds came from?

08 Feb 2021, 12:12Good Day, Your reply is is untrue. Please take time to read the PAIA request and see conversation - from Kusha -The information that you require is pre-retirement. As per our telephonic conversation, the beneficiary information is kept with the employer. Due to confidentiality, the beneficiary information will only be shared with the fund administrator in the event of death in service. As your late Dad had retired, there was no reason details of beneficiaries in respect of the pre-retirement information to be shared with the fund administrator. Alexander Forbes is not in possession of the information of the required information as we were never privy to it. In an attempt to assist you to obtain the information that you require, we requested each of our internal divisions to look into your late Dad’s records. Our claims team have the most interaction with employers, hence we’re also attempting to reach out to the former employer to obtain the information.
A suggestion would be for you to approach your late Dad’s former employer directly and request the required information.

Kusha was also aware of this - yet he tells me to contact a company that has closed down and a person who has passed. How can you not know where the funds came from. How did you get the retirement instruction? What was the trigger for the Post retirement annuity? How did you know that my Father was due to go on Pension? How is a PAIA request a security reason? Your own PAIA manual states that we may access our personal information - We also supp**** a High court order evidencing that we are the biological children - see from your PAIA manual. Personal information that belongs to the requester of the information – Section 61.
