Service received from an Aldo store

I purchased an Aldo bag from 8 months ago and noticed that after a few occasions of using the bag, it was tearing at the seams. Not being sure of what to do as I no longer had the receipt, I emailed Aldo customer care who advised that I go to the nearest store of purchase and speak to the manager of the store to see what they could do for me.

I got in touch with Aldo the Glen branch and shared my story with them, emailing them the pictures of the bag in question as well as my other Aldo bags which were a year or 2 older than the one in question.

Phindile and Bongani were my consultants who dealt with the matter and advised that they would forward my email to their area manager and await his feedback, on the very email I was advised that the standard procedure would have to replace the bag.

I received an email advising that my other 2 bags were in good condition in comparison to the one in question. A few days later i got a call advising me that the same style of bag was in store and they were waiting to find a code for it in order to do the exchange. A week later the code was not yet found and was advised that they are still waiting.

a few days later i was called and advised that the area manager Linda Mchube has asked that I bring in the bag for it to be repaired. This was rather shocking, however i adhered to the request and took my bag in for repairs. I was then called and advised that the bag could not be repaired and that the best that could be done was to be given a discount so that I could buy another bag.

I asked for Linda's contact details and got in touch with him to gain better understanding. He explained to me that because the bag fell out of the 6 month term, they could not exchange the bag.

I explained to Linda that this was not a standard/ normal case as the bag as not lived up to the promise of Aldo's quality, the bag cost close to R1000 and could not even last me a year. I explained to him that the body of the bag was still in great condition however I could no longer use it as it was tearing on the seams of the handles.

Linda said he would consider all the facts and revert back to me the next day, which he did, only to advise that after his colleague JP looked at the bag, a decision was taken that there is nothing they could do about it because it was older than 6 months.

I asked Linda what his decision as an area manager was and he was in support of JP.

Collecting the bag, I was truly shocked at the service received as well as the promise let down of the Aldo brand.
