I unfortunately cannot recommend Alcro Electrical based on my experience. I contacted them to inspect a kitchen light and replace a burnt wall socket at my rental property. The work itself was completed, and I have paid the invoice. My concern is not with the quality of the workmanship, but with the lack of transparency regarding their pricing. I was never advised upfront that the call-out fee would be R850 during normal business hours. Had this been disclosed before the work commenced, I would have had the opportunity to decide whether I wished to proceed or obtain an alternative quotation. When I queried the amount, I was repeatedly given explanations of what a call-out fee includes, rather than an explanation as to why the fee was so high or why it had not been disclosed beforehand. It took several requests before I received a proper breakdown and a final invoice. As a property owner, I also required an allocation of costs because the visit involved both landlord and tenant-related matters. Initially this information was not forthcoming, making it difficult for me to administer the costs correctly. My disappointment is not about paying for professional services. Contractors are entitled to charge for their expertise, travel and time. However, I believe customers should be informed of unusually high call-out fees before work begins so that they can make an informed decision. For me, the issue was not the workmanship, but the lack of communication and transparency around pricing. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be using Alcro Electrical again.
