<p>We were browsing for a a car through Dealerships..I found one I rather fancied and we went to look at it only to be told by the salesman he wouldnt purchase that particular car because he was aware of the history..but this other one The VW Tiguan Tren Fun, would be the better buy...and all the sales jargon plus the emphasis on a warranty wasnt necessary but its our choice because the car is in such good nick we may not even need it, ....it all looked hunki dory and we took the synopsis gave it to my son who wanted to buy his Mum a birthday present with his inheritance, a badly needed commodity from the old banger she was used to driving .The car synopsis was emailed to the Trust and the Trust paid out. so the car was paid for in cash. Having only 74 ooo kms on the clock all service history the car was delivered with a big red bow and the occasion was recorded and edited on U tube under Carolines Birthday gift..fast forward to a few weeks into its use the engine light comes on... back to the dealership and they cant find the problem it was told to us these things happen. so I take my son to the Uk to commence his studies there and ask the dealership to please keep the car and get it seen to so that on my return I have a car thats safe and driveable ..they agree and a month later on my return the car was collected no engine light I am happy three days later the engine light comes on again..so seeking a second opinionI shop around at other people in the know and gather information still being told by the original dealership its good to go the light will eventually fade .these things happen with these electronic computerised engines..what do I know..fast froward to first official service under my ownership and all is good ..they say..the engine light will fade just give it time..we are at 90 000 +kms and smoke is billowing out the exhaust one day as I drop a client off at the night shelter because I am a volunteer **** Crisis Counsellor and medical intercessary..so the need for a reliable car at all hrs is imperartive.... the car is taken to a nearby garage where they indicate the news is not good and in all honesty it needs to go to a Brand repairer ie VW..so it gets towed to the nearest VW agent here in Somerset West..where everything gets revealed on the VIN and not much service history..Nissan had it then it was offered to the VW dealership in Somerset West and they knowing the type of car and model declined the offer and the dealership we bought it from took the car over to sell and we purchased the VW Tiguan Tren Fun 2011...only to discover this particular model was withdrawn from the market due to extensive engine issues obviously of which we were uninformed also the purchasing price we purchased it at was evidentl;y the selling price as it rolled off the showroom floor with no kms on it brand new, give or take a few rand difference R206 000 these cars have a history so the original owner got rid of it before ..if any trouble started knowing the information they had shortly after they had purchased it..hence the low repurchase mileage. The Tiguan was brought to Cape Town where even VW didnt want the hassle so the Dearlship we bought it from sold it to us knowing the history. I know very little about cars give me smashed up n traumatised people and i do an awesome job ..My trust has gone out the window, I need a reliable car where my sons money is good and I deserve an apology and a car to the value of what he purchased the Tiguan at. I am destraught and housebound and I survive on a disability grant. I need a car as good as the one they described if not better. Where do people get off being so ruthless..needless to say the salesman resigned a fortnight later..My problem is not solved.the repairs to the car at 90 000 kms + is approx R80 000 because the car was sold as a dud to us without our knowledge.and they were only too gratefull to get rid of it.
