Albany Bakery
Based on recent customer reviews, Albany Bakery is drawing consistent criticism across product quality, food safety and driver conduct. Shoppers describe doughy, thin, wet slices, loaves smelling rotten before the sell by date, visible mould, and foreign objects including insects found inside bread. Delivery truck drivers are accused of reckless driving, collisions and verbal abuse near Bela-Bela and Witfield. Emails and calls to Albany and Tiger Brands reportedly go unanswered. A few customers still praise the taste and the discontinued Ultima loaf.

1. Incident Details Date: Saturday, [Insert Date of Incident] Date: 30 May 2026 Time: 17:15 Location: Main Street, entering Bela-Bela from Modimolle Vehicle Involved: Albany Delivery Truck Registration Number: MH 58 WR GP 2. Description of the Incident While driving with my family on the main road entering Bela-Bela from Modimolle, the driver of the above-mentioned Albany truck began tailgating my vehicle so closely that his cabin obstructed any view of him in my rearview mirror. I was in the right lane, with another vehicle slightly ahead of me in the left lane. The driver then executed a highly reckless maneuver: he swerved into the left lane and immediately cut directly back into the right lane in front of me. This action forced my vehicle toward the oncoming traffic lane. I was required to brake heavily to avoid a severe collision. Following this, the driver proceeded through the next two consecutive Stop streets down the road without slacking speed or attempting to stop, showing a complete disregard for traffic laws and public safety. 3. Driver Confrontation and Verbal Abuse I managed to catch up with the truck at the Engen fuel station in Bela-Bela. When I approached the driver to inform him that his reckless behavior would be reported, he responded with extreme arrogance and told me to "Fk off." This behavior is entirely unacceptable for an individual operating a heavy commercial vehicle branded with the Albany name. 4. Failure of Corporate Communications Following this incident, I attempted to contact various depots and head offices to report this driver. The communication systems across Tiger Brands and Albany are completely broken. I spent considerable time calling the following numbers with zero assistance, incorrect details, or no answer at all: Bela-Bela Depot: *** (Unresponsive) Albany Head Office: ***(No assistance) Albany Pretoria: Unable to provide a local number or help. Other numbers tried with no reply or resolution: ***, ***, ***, *** / ***, ***. 5. Demand for Action As a major corporate entity, Tiger Brands cannot afford to have drivers on public roads who actively endanger families and treat citizens with vulgar contempt, nor can it afford to shield them via non-functional customer service lines. I request that this matter be escalated to your Logistics/Fleet Manager and Human Resources Department immediately. I expect: A formal investigation into the driver operating vehicle MH 58 WR GP at the specified date and time. Disciplinary action aligned with the threat this driver posed to public safety. Written confirmation of receipt of this complaint and an update on the actions taken. I look forward to your urgent response. Sincerely, Mr. L.J. Swart Contact: ***

Sunday morning around 10am I was hit by Albany baker driver who skipped the robot, I didn't see him coming and from the damages of my car I don't think he stopped by the robot, I sent an email yesterday morning to tigers brands and auto response said I will contacted within 24hrs but it hasn't happened, I need to know their claim process to prevent my claim from being late

Found a foreign object in my Albany White Bread Loaf. Contacted Tiger Brands and Albany Bakeries regarding this issue and have not received any response other than "our correspondence department will contact you". It has been a week since I found what looks like a chicken nugget in my Loaf of bread. I have given Albany and their parent company more than sufficient time to respond to my emails but they are clearly not interested. I regret not just going straight to social media and putting them on blast. Very poor showing on their part from a company so invested in the community. Dissapointed as a long time customer of this brand, a brand I solely buy bread from.
