Be careful when doing business with Alas

<p>I am a lawyer and an employer. I made the mistake of using Alas to find a Personal Assistant.</p> <p> </p> <p>Alas sent me a candidate and gave me an unqualified guarantee which reads "the client will be entitled to a replacement candidate from ALAS should the candidate resign or be dismissed for any reason within the guarantee period". ALAS has a 90 day guarantee period.</p> <p> </p> <p>Well, the PA joined me and I paid ALAS' fee. The candiadte left and ALAS could not provide me with a replacement. The problem is that ALAS then, despite not being able to provide a replacement, kept the fee that I paid them. When I challenged them and explained that they cannot keep my money if they don't concommitantly provide me with a suitable candidate, they told me that they would only refund me 25% of the fee that I paid because the candidate left in the last month of the guarantee. But their written guarantee contains no such provision. They thumbsucked those terms and **** about them applying - just so that they could keep my money without giving me what I paid for.</p> <p> </p> <p>I would therefore be very careful when doing business with ALAS. I will certainly never trust ALAS nor do business with them again.</p>
