Spoiled Food and **** Contact Details – This Place Should Be Shut Down!
I ordered from Al-Mehran Restaurant (Mountain Rise, Pietermaritzburg) via Mr D after seeing their “Buy One Get One Free Creamy Butter Chicken” special for R99. The delivery was fast and the driver was excellent but the restaurant itself is a disgrace and a health hazard. The moment I opened my meal, the smell hit me. It stank of spoiled milk! The so called “butter chicken” was thin, watery, and absolutely flavourless. It looked and tasted nothing like butter chicken, and the gravy consistency was closer to milk or even water. I was too disgusted to eat it. I immediately phoned the restaurant. The owner mentioned that they had no electricity from 8 AM (including the shop they purchase milk from) and that there was a problem with the milk they used yet they still decided to serve that to customers! When I asked if my meal was expired and what he planned to do about it, he kept dodging the question. His only solution was to “order another flavor or something else" or “you can get a refund from Mr D.” No accountability. No apology. No basic sense of hygiene or customer care. To make things worse, the special clearly stated the meal came with garlic butter naan, but what I got was plain, dry naan with no butter whatsoever. And to add to that, the phone number listed on their Google page doesn’t even exist. That alone says everything about the kind of business they’re running. This restaurant served spoiled food and operates with nonexistent contact details (besides having to search and find a cell number on the owners personal account)! I'm sure that this is a clear violation of basic health and consumer safety standards. They need to be investigated by the health authorities immediately. Do NOT order from this place. It’s unsafe, dishonest, and absolutely unacceptable!
