Feedback on my stay at Akeso
I recently spent time at Akeso and wanted to share my experiences, both positive and negative, to help improve the facility and services.
Areas for Improvement:
- Infrastructure: The facility is outdated and in need of renovation. A refresh would greatly enhance the environment and patient experience. We did not have any could water for the duration I was here.
- Nursing Staff: While some staff members were helpful, many seemed uninterested and unhelpful. Training on empathy and patient-centered care would benefit the team.
- Psychiatry Services: The psychiatrist I saw was completely unprofessional. I needed an out pass for a funeral and was treated poorly. When I sought a new psychiatrist, the institution made me search from office to office, which I found humiliating.
- Group Classes: The classes didn't resonate with me or others I spoke to. Consider introducing alternative therapies like yoga, meditation, and physiotherapy, which are covered by medical aid.
- Food and Canteen: The kosher food provider offered small, unappetizing portions. Canteen staff seemed unfriendly and stingy with food, leaving patients feeling hungry or forced to bring their own food.
- Outdoor Spaces: There were no comfortable outdoor areas for reading or relaxation.
Positive Suggestions:
- Update the facility to create a more welcoming environment. - Invest in staff training to improve patient care and empathy. - Introduce diverse therapy options and qualified professionals. - Enhance food services and canteen staff hospitality. - Create cozy outdoor spaces for relaxation. - Streamline the process for finding a new psychiatrist or psychologist, respecting patients' dignity and time.
I hope this feedback helps Akeso improve its services and environment, enhancing the experience for future patients.
