SHAME ON YOU, AIRLINK!
I booked a return flight from Bloemfontein to Cape Town via the AirLink website on Sunday, February 18. All went well and I paid the full fee.
This morning I received a phone call not to go ahead with my planned trip, so I cancelled it immediately and requested a refund. The flight would have been on Friday morning, February 23. Five (5) days prior to the planned flight.
I then received an email from AirLink which prescribed how I should go ahead to request a refund. The email stated that I should first cancel the booking before I can request a refund. I did that to the "t".
I then had to phone the AirLink cancellation department, which I did. The attendant then informed me that the ticket I bought was a NON REFUNDABLE TICKET. At no time or anywhere have I been informed that I booked a non-refundable ticket.
How can this be?!!!!! This is *****!
She mentioned that I would only be refunded about R300 for a ticket that amounted R3342.04.
This is blatant theft!
I was given the alternative to keep the ticket for up to a year during which time I can use it, upon which I have to pay another fee for changing the booking. I am not a frequent flyer. So this means that I will loose my money, while AirLink happily cash in on the seat which they will surely sell to another person. Getting double the income!
This is just not right! Who watches companies like these, who take advantage of clients?
I had a similar experience last year where CELL C refused to refund me on an overpayment. The amount was more that R1,000. It is still outstanding.
Like the ******* government, I am now also losing faith and trust in the honesty of businesses in South Africa.
AirLink is *****ING from me. I am so disappointed. How could I ever recommend people to fly with AirLink? Definitely not with reputation of withholding crucial information like a NON-REFUNDABLE TICKET!.
I strongly urge people to be extremely cautious before doing business with this flight company. I would recommend another flight company.
