Cancellations with no restitution

I booked return flights to upington with them. Booked all accomodation and rental car hire for the duration of my stay accordingly. 48hrs before departure I'm told my return flight at 17.40 has been cancelled and that I have a choice of travelling at 9am that day or the next day at 17.40. When informed neither option was convenient ( I would be in a national park whose gates only open at 7am so wouldn't have made 9am( besides the disruption to my holoday by wasting an entire day of my 4 day break ) and needed to be back in Johammesburg the next morning. After numerous calls, visit their head office , emails I was then offered a flight from Sishen( 2hrs away) or Kimberly (4hrs away). I was told that no reimbur*****t for any additional accomodation or ground travel( I had to hire a car and leave 2hrs earlier than planned to get there) would occur. The reason for cancellation was " covid". And that until the WHO declared we were no longer in a pandemic, they can change flights as they like and that booking through them meant one had to be prepared to come back earlier or leave later ie dont make concrete plans! I was advised to read the T&C where covid is listed as an act of God!As a health care worker, my time off is valuable and essential. To use covid as a get out free card to allow an airline to act with impunity and contempt is atrocious. When I pointed out we were not in the middle of a peak, so the covid reason was weak, I was then told "we have other operational problems" . From my understanding this was due to a very empty flight which would cost them too much to operate. My advise schedule fewer flights to appropriately meet demands and avoid disappointment. When the tourism and aviation industry has suffered so much, I would think u would value your local customers more.
