Airlink unreasonably expensive to amend bookings.

A word of caution if you need to book Airline tickets in South Africa.

We have booked using Safair and Airlink for September. Due to unforseen changes beyond our control, we had to change our tickets to depart from a different airport and then land back at that same different airport.

With the help of Travelstart, Safair was so easy to work with, we could manage our booking online and pay the difference in airfare and incur a small penalty of about R350 for changing our booking.

Airlink on the other hand is absurd. They want to charge us R6000 to change tickets to the value of around R3500. Their penalties alone total almost R3000. No refunds for cancellations either.

I should have read the fine print very carefully, but honestly We were not planning on changing our booking when we made it.

Why can Safair be so user friendly and Airlink so unreasonable?

Moral of the story: Unless you are happy to loose your money when life happens, don't book with Airlink. ?
