Airlink don't care about their passengers.

After my favourite local airline, BA, stopped flying in South Africa due to Comair's demise, I needed a new home for my local flights. A collegaue recommeded Airlink. I only fly Business Class and I used them late last year. Sadly, their Business Class was not a patch on the old BA Business Class - no priority boarding, old uncomfortable seats on their planes, food basically the same as Economy and no choice of drinks - no beer or spirits, just a very poor wine and cooldrinks.

But I believe in giving everybody a couple of chances, so used them again last week on a trip to Cape Town. Sadly, their Business Class offering hasn't improved - if anything it was even worse! But what topped the cake is that I was booked back to Jhb on flight no, 4Z902 leaving Cape Town at 09h20 on the 18th April 2023. All flights from Cape Town that day were delayed due to incoming flights being unable to land due to fog. That's fine - it happens.

But the absolute lack of communication from Airlink is horrifying! They are very quick to inform you by SMS of your check-in time and boarding gate, but not one SMS or any other communication from them on the delays. It's now 12h05 as I write this at the airport - nearly 3 hours late and still nothing from Airlink. I checked on their website and my flight number appears to have been delayed to 13h15, but why has nobody contacted me?

I was also unable to get into the Slow Lounge as a Business Class passenger because it was "full" and had to pay to get into one of the other lounges. Airlink obviously don't give a continental hoot about their passengers, let alone those of us who pay the premium of Business Class to supposedly get a better experience and more comfort while travelling. Ha!

I'm not looking forward to the flight home, when it eventually leaves and certainly won't be using Airlink again, if I can avoid them. The next question would be, who else offers a good, premium, Business Class service on local flights. Any recommendations would be gratefully received!
