Travelers beware of 'Free cancellation' terms on AirBnb

<p>As early as March 2016 we planned an SA holiday starting in Cape Town. We had family coming from UK to join us. For one member it was the 1st time to SA. We booked and paid everything from accomodation, flights annd car hire. We used AirBnb in Cape Town for our accomodation and paid in full in March 2017.</p> <p>Sadly in December one of the guests from UK was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer as well as a brain tumor. Clearly with all the proposed chemo treatments, it was decided by the doctors not to allow travel at that time, so it was decided that we cancel the entire trip. We gave more than THREE MONTHS notice to all our booking companies including AirBnb. Each company was sympathetic and canceled our booking subject to a small admin fee (+/- R250 each) Not so with AirBnb !!! They charged us over R1300.00 as an 'admin fee' which was OTT as far as all were concerned. Disgusting service and attitude. So this is just a heads up to anyone thinking of using them to be very aware of so called 'free cancellation'</p>
