Reservation code received suddenly email address invalid

Created a profile on behalf of my husband for him to easily book. All confirmation links sent, made a booking and reservation code suddenly. Profile doesn't exist email address invalid. How was the activation link sent if email address is incorrect. Irritating for a first time user.
