Airbnb.com ********** MARKETING

promotional discounts promised by Airbnb.com is a complete ****...

A friend who has been with airbnb for some time recommend that I join. When joining I was promised a promotional discount on my first booking of R1200.00.

Hence I decided to make a booking in Cape Town. Taking into account the affordability of this stay factoring my promissed discount in. Naturally once registering, with Airbnb.com, they first need to check my credentials. Hence they then forfeited my R1200.00 rebate as they claimed the rebate had expired!! This was few hours later once they approved the account. Naturally I was devastated that a supposed reputable company. Such as Airbnb.com based in California USA, would have morals and a code of ethics to honner, but instead I've been pushed around with the standard corporate public relations denial and excuses to delay and rejecting my Refund. In our discussions, airbnb.com representatives phoned me and made a point of informing me that the phone call was being recorded, for our protection, but when I asked for a copy of my phone recording, to be able to paste it to this complaint, they Naturally refused to give it to me. I then pointed out to them their responsibility in terms of the South African Consumer rights (as of course this transaction was made in South Africa, they would be obligated to abide by the CPA), hence now all I get is their public relations stalling techniques. Informing me that they need more time as its been handed to their superior and then a mail informing me that the representative I've been dealing with is going on leave (second time in the last week)...

Clearly Airbnb.com are ********* and are only interested in their own pockets. They have no ethics with regards to honoring a marketing promise to provide the advertised discount of R1200.

DON'T DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM...
