Airbnb - listing in a completely different province

I searched a specific area on Airbnb and booked a night away for my family and I to celebrate New Year’s Eve on 31 December. Payment was made and we made our way to the location as advertised on Airbnb’s site per the directions and Google Maps link obtained from the website, which was about 200km’s away. Upon arrival, I called the host to indicate our arrival and she advised that the listing is actually located in another province. We were fuming. Not only did the host incorrectly advertise the listing, but Airbnb did not verify the existence of the property, nor it’s location. It was advertised completely incorrectly on their website and in a completely different province. Where are the internal controls? How can a listing be advertised without performing the due diligence required? This is utterly pathetic.

I complained to Airbnb about this and as a gesture of goodwill, they wanted to provide me with a R400 gift voucher. This in itself is an insult. The voucher value does not even cover my petrol driving all the way to the venue, let alone the spoilt experience which my family endured.

Please use Booking.com instead, as Airbnb is absolute *******.
